19 February 2001.

In the build up to Sydney 2000 Olympic games, three excellent pieces of cardiovascular equipment were added to our range of The Fitness Generation products: Freerunner", 'Freectimber", And the "Crossrobics" machines. To provide a cross training option for aerobic conditioning, we selected The Fitness Generation Range of cardiovascular equipment. Athletes are subject to high volumes of work, often at intensities that due to the impact, can trigger overuse injuries. Cross training is an essential strategy to minimize the strain on the high performance athlete's physical and mental capacity.

The "Freerunner'was particularly useful for our resident Paralympians in the build up to the selection trials for Sydney 2000. Unique to this machine is the simulated 'heel to toe' action of running or walking. Athletes with cerebral palsy benefited by the controlled running action of the Free-Runner, which allowed the middle distance athletes to maintain training volume at intensity, minimizing the risk for lower limb injury with detailed measurement of the training session provided by the console.

The "Freeclimber is a staple in nearly all of our athletes training program because it affords a challenging but low impact training session. Certainly for the knee-injured athlete, the Freeclimber has been godsend enabling strength endurance and aerobic capacities to be sustained during rehabilitation. Of particular use for the national men's volleyball team, the recumbent "Crossrobics" provided an option to the Freeclimber for athletes unfortunate enough to incur low back pain or ankle injury from the rigors of competition.

As you would expect from the diverse builds of athletes utilizing our facility, adjustable equipment is of paramount importance. The independent action of all three machines enables users of all sizes to assume their normal stride length and step height unlike any other machines on the market.

While a facility purpose built for high performance training, staff with access privileges to our facility readily utilize the equipment. In fact, we often have to kick them off so athletes can get on with their training! It would be fair to say that without the support of The Fitness Generation's cardiovascular equipment, many of our athletes would not have been able to maintain their peak physical form in the build up to the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games.

Thanks TFG,

AIS Strength & Conditioning.
